There is music in the spacing of the spheres.”

WHAT IS SOUND THERAPY?

Sound healing has been a part of our human experience for thousands of years.
Ancient instruments such as drums, singing bowls, gongs, bells, and didgeridoo were traditionally used for healing purposes as well as religious and spiritual ceremonies.

With the rise of scientific research in meditation and mindfulness practices, studies of Himalayan singing bowl therapy have begun to confirm what we already intuitively and experientially know: it relaxes our bodies and soothes our minds.

Preliminary research confirms deep relaxation can occur in sessions of 20 to 60 minutes. By triggering the relaxation response, the Himalayan singing bowls activate the parasympathetic nervous system, lowering blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, and other biometric measures. In addition to physiological responses, psychological factors have also been evaluated. Findings showed participants had “significantly less tension, anger, fatigue, and depressed mood. Feeling of spiritual well-being significantly increased across all participants.”*

Some of the benefits of singing bowl therapy may include:

  • Reduced fatigue, depression, and pain

  • Reduced anxiety, tension, and stress

  • Improved sleep, blood pressure, and respiratory rate

  • Improved overall sense of well-being

  • Relaxation prior to medical procedures such as surgery or chemotherapy

  • Restorative rest for athletes who require efficient physical recovery for optimal performance

All sound therapy services through Sounds Like A Dream integrate traditional Nepali techniques from the Atma Buti® Sound and Vibrational School using Himalayan singing bowls and tingsha (small cymbals).

Many people fall asleep during these sessions, or lose their sense of time (we call it “Bowl Time”).
Rest assured that the healing sounds will be tuning your mind, body, and soul whether you are wide awake, sound asleep, or somewhere deliciously in between.
