Dreamwork Sessions
What happens in a Private Dreamwork Session?
A Private Dreamwork Session lasts one hour and takes place on Zoom or by phone from a private home office, or in person at our studio in El Dorado Hills.
Because we believe that dreams are sacred territory, we strictly adhere to the International Association for the Study of Dreams (IASD) Ethics and Confidentiality and Principles of Community guidelines, which support dreamwork approaches that “respect the dreamer’s dignity and integrity, and which recognizes the dreamer as the decision-maker regarding the significance of the dream.”
During a Private Dreamwork Session, we will:
Discuss any questions you have, such as your sleep habits and their impact on your dreams, why you can’t remember dreams and how to improve dream recall, information about parasomnias like night terrors and sleep paralysis, how to work with recurring dreams, nightmare support, lucid dreaming techniques, and guidance to other resources
Work directly with specific dreams that you’d like to better understand. We can typically work with one or two dreams per session. We will use the somatic Embodied Experiential Dreamwork method and/or various techniques that will help you discover for yourself the “dream medicine” within your dream.
For those who are interested in an extra deep dive into the dream world, Dreamwork Coaching is available to help you develop the foundation for a consistent dreamwork practice. Dreamwork Coaching takes place over a period of time with multiple sessions. We will customize a dreamwork plan based on your goals, such as reducing anxiety and insomnia, incubating dreams based on a question you have, exploring your creativity and problem-solving skills, nightmare reduction, and lucid dreaming training.
What is a Dreamwork Practitioner?
My role as your Dreamwork Practitioner is to assist you in discovering how your nighttime dreams can be a wellspring of inspiration and information for your waking life. A Dreamwork Practitioner helps orient you in the vast landscape of the dreamtime, and supports you in exploring various therapeutic approaches and techniques to working with your dreams for your overall health and well-being.
At Sounds Like A Dream, we are especially passionate about working with those who suffer from chronic nightmares and/or sleep paralysis. Some research shows that various dreamwork methods can reduce and even resolve nightmares (I have personally experienced this!).
